W.A. Mozart: 'Coronation' Mass
Marianna Martines: Quarta Messa
Marianna Martines was a woman composer at a time (the classical period) when female composers were virtually unheard of. Yet, she was extremely talented and much admired by Mozart. Mozart and Martines were friends and were often found to playing piano duets together. The Quarta Messa is a major and significant work by this mostly unheard of composer. It is delightful and full of beauty and power and, this evening, it is paired with Mozart's ever-popular and much-loved Coronation Mass. This is a very special concert and, as far as research can ascertain, this may only be the third performance of the work by Martines in the UK. Get your tickets now.
